Applying for a Boren Award and wondering how to approach the essays? An upcoming virtual webinar will help you better understand the essay prompts and what the Boren selection panel is looking for in a competitive application.
During the webinar, the Boren Awards Outreach team will walk you through the application essays and provide insight into what the selection panel is, and is not, looking for. The session will address common questions about interpreting the essay prompts, making a compelling national security argument, and explaining how an applicant’s federal career interests align with the goals of the program.
The Boren Scholarships and Fellowships provide funding for U.S. undergraduate and graduate students to study less commonly taught languages in regions of the world that are critical to U.S. interests and underrepresented in study abroad, including Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East.
Boren Scholars and Fellows are students interested in developing language and cultural expertise while preparing for careers in the federal government. In exchange for funding, recipients commit to working in the federal government for at least one year after graduation.
