During this information session, Dr. Karen Wachsmuth will provide an overview of the Boren Awards available to both undergraduate and graduate students, eligibility, and preferred languages and countries.

The Boren Scholarships and Fellowships provide funding for U.S. undergraduate and graduate students to study less commonly taught languages in regions of the world that are critical to U.S. interests and underrepresented in study abroad, including Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East.

Boren Scholars and Fellows are students interested in developing language and cultural expertise while preparing for careers in the federal government. In exchange for funding, recipients commit to working in the federal government for at least one year after graduation.
